Piece: Spring Bouquet Caged Pendant & Necklace
Designer: Suzanne Darmeio
Method: From Suzanne: "I adore doing caging and collage work, particularly with a botanical theme. For this piece, I used several pieces of brass filigree, which I cut to form the base of the pendant. I attached flat backed pink Czech pressed glass leaves and a blue fan shaped pressed glass piece. After affixing these with E6000 glue, I began the caging process using 28g gold wire, wiring on bell flowers is several sizes and hues, including small pale greens, larger pink/purples, and center holed vintage pink "ghost" finished flat flowers. I finished the pendant off with a wire of 11/0 clear pink lined seeds with a bell flower on the end and another wire of tiny green bell flowers. I then attached a full, round brass filigree to the back to cover the wiring and enhanced it with 18K gold leaf and acrylic varnish. The necklace itself is three braided strands, one featuring vintage white/vitrail Swarovski beads, accented with blue Swarvoski bicones and cut crystal rondells, the next a thin strand of the clear pink lined 11/0 seeds accented with cut crystal rondells and peridot/jonquil Czech beads, the third strand is white and clear 6/0 seeds accented with pink Swarovski bicones and cut crystal rondells. These are attached to a three hole gold clasp."
