Dead Soft - Definition
Return to Main Glossary
Definition
Wire composed of metal that is in its most malleable (tempered) and ductile state. Copper electrical wire is an example. Dead soft wire is more easily bent and otherwise worked than other wire of the same composition. The softness is a characteristic of the metal/alloy, so dead soft wire of one material may be harder to work than wire of another material. For example, dead soft gold is much more malleable than dead soft steel.
