This is an e-book, which means you visit the host site to get the book (http://www.lennag.com/jewelrymaking.htm). You pay for the book and download it, and then can save it on your computer or print it out to read like a conventional book. In addition, this e-book comes with bonus features, including numerous articles on establishing and growing a small, home-based business, information on accepting credit cards online, and help with online advertising.

First off, let me say, as someone who has been self-employed for over ten years and has owned and operated a home-based jewelry making business, I'm a critical judge of advice written about how to start and grow this type of business. Therefore, I was really pleased to see this book met and exceeded my expectations for how to tell someone how to decide on starting a business, actually start it, grow it, and maintain it. You could call this book "Small Business 101 for Home-Based Jewelry Makers". The author is Australian, but her discussion covers what you need to know for any country. You will, of course, need to do some of your own homework regarding small business regulations in your area and your market/competition. Also, the book assumes you have a marketable product. It doesn't teach how to make jewelry, but rather, how to make money from beadwork or jewelry.

Lenna starts out with planning and analyzing your personal situation so you can determine whether turning your passion for jewelrymaking is something you should turn into a money-making venture. She discusses the pros and cons of working from home, the type of financial commitment involved, how to manage legal aspects of sales and a home office, how to manage your business, and how to market it. When you download the book, you get access to many additional articles. There is a discussion on joint ventures, how to overcome procrastination, keyword advertising (excellent coverage), how to manage stress, organization tips, and much more. The book and the articles are clearly written by someone who has experienced the joys and dealt with the frustrations of being self-employed.

Lenna Green's book is very readable. The tone is conversational and friendly. It's basically what you would get if you transcribed a perfectly-worded interview with an expert on selling jewelry from home. In my opinion, the book is an excellent value. I very highly recommend it for anyone considering turning a jewelrymaking hobby into their business.
